Title: BREAST CANCER IN YOUNG WOMEN

Abstract

Breast cancer is the commonest malignancy among women globally and now in India also. But women in india are encountering the disease at an early age then their counter parts inwest. This article highlights the factors responsible for early occurence of breast cancer in indian womens. The national cancer registry programme (NCRP) has predicted that nearly 2,30,000 cases of breast cancer will be reported anually by 2025 with a steady increase in cases of young women (<45 years of age) with breast cancer.we have reviewed available literature to understand the various factors responsible for this early occurence of breast cancer in indian womens.Our review revealed low cancer literacy of breast cancer risk factors among Indian women, irrespective of their socio- economic and educational background.There are various limitations in indian health care delievery system which hinder early diagnostic treatment of the disease. organised community screening programmes with cost effective methods is the need of the hour to counter this increase in cases of breast cancer.
